Help Us Drive to Beat ALS!
Harold Brownell has been a friendly face at many local auto dealers for the last 37 years, working as a salesman, manager, car buyer, used dealer and just about any other job that helps people find the perfect vehicle.
Last year, after showing symptoms since 2007, Harold was diagnosed as having amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease. ALS is a fatal neuromuscular disorder that causes all of the body’s muscles to deteriorate to the point of paralysis, including loss of the ability to breathe, swallow, talk, and walk, while not affecting the mind. There is no known cause or cure for ALS.
Though he is confined to a motorized chair, Harold has set his sights on the 3rd Annual Bangor Walk to Defeat ALS tomorrow, Saturday, September 28th, and he has elicited the help of some of his former colleagues in the automotive business to help him reach his fundraising goal.
All new car dealers in Bangor and Ellsworth have agreed to help, with most making a donation to Harold’s team for each test drive on Friday and Saturday.
Want to help? Take a test drive on Saturday, August 28th at any Darling’s location in Bangor or Ellsworth and we’ll make a donation to Harold’s team!
